I just got back to Auckland this week, and I miss Melbourne despite its stiffling heat. Over my time there, I got to know Dee a lot better, and re-established my long friendship with Ashish, and got to see a few of the sights of Melbourne.
Now that I’m home again, I’ve started Uni — and can’t really get excited about any of it, aside from computer science which should be quite interesting. I have some animations to do for a new TV show, and I’ve found it hard to write because I’ve been tired and sick. But I’ve made some progress.
I’ve put together a short animated film about my time in Serbia. I have also written a semi-sequel to it, but it’ll probably be a while before that gets made.
I took a lot of photos on my recent trip to Europe, and one of the tricks I discovered along the way was how to stitch together photos to make large panoramas. I’ve put together some of the best panoramas on this page. Many of them I have already posted on my facebook or myspace pages, but facebook and myspace shrink the images down so much you can barely see them… These larger versions have a little more detail.
I’ve been working on a bunch of new songs — some for Sunflower Blue, some for Zeroteamkids (my project with Sol), and some for Rare Antidote (Me and Hamish). I’m really hoping to get together some sort of Zeroteamkids release before the end of the year. Me and Sol stayed up till 5am this morning and got a new song finished, gave each other haircuts, and I cried myself to sleep in his bed listening to BrandNew on repeat. (I’m completely serious).
I also recorded a version of I Wish I Had Your Charisma especially for Trent. He wanted a version which focussed more on the “nobody loves me” part of the song. I ended up rerecording most of the song, and getting pretty upset while doing so, which you can probably hear in the vocals.
I’ve started working on an animation about the 3 months I spent in Serbia. Audio is recorded and I’ve started animating the first scene. I’ll post the finished animation on youtube when its done.
If anyone is into voice acting, let me know, because I have a number of scripts that are nearing completion.
Me and a friend, Mark Halstead, had a project years ago under the moniker Enter Face. We put together a few tracks by exchanging files over ICQ. In looking back at the old Enter Face stuff, I found one or two of my own songs that I hadn’t listened to in a very long time.
This song features one of my first recorded examples of live drumming, and samples from the childrens record “the enchanted journey” which I also heavily sampled for later work, such as Nothing Ever Works.
